Will there be cross-chain liquidity with other chains?

John (14:16):

Will there be cross chain liquidity with other chains? Will there be cross-chain liquidity with other chains, like Optimism? Who will have to build that connection?

Alan (14:33):

Our strategy is to build as many bridges as possible. The idea is to create the best user experience out there. I think users will want to have as much flexibility as possible to move their funds around wherever they want these funds to be and wherever their favorite projects happen to be running. As to who will have to build that connection, if the platforms are open and they've gone mainnet and anyone could deploy contracts on them, we can just deploy our swap-based movement contracts on both sides and enable these bridges.

Jan (15:17):

In terms of building them. There's really good news in the sense that if both L2s are EVM compatible, then once the code has been written for a bridge, then nothing prevents that same bridge from being used to bridge across many different L2s. So it's not like a custom bridge has to be developed for every different L2 to L2. Once the code has been written it can be very readily deployed across many of the L2s. Assuming they are truly EVM compatible, much of the work really only needs to be done once.
